A little help from my friends...

I've been absent for a while, unfortunately due to the fact that recently, my photo equipment and laptop were stolen from my car. Unfortunately, none of my insurances will cover ~$5,000 worth of equipment I have accumulated over 7 years of shooting.

Unfortunately, none of the insurance companies I have policies with will cover the theft. All pointing to the other for responsibility.

Dear Deviants, I'm looking to you, all of those who have used my services or admired my work over the years.

The amazing & kind artist, :iconbryancollins: Bryan Collins has already donated a days worth of his sales at his Etsy store in support of returning my equipment. I am very lucky to have such a friend.

In the meanwhile, I've been thinking about adding the work that I have been able to do, which is mostly iPhonography. I'm not quite sure how comfortable I am with it, but perhaps I'll test a few submissions out to see how I feel. I just really miss my camera :(

Anyway, life is still good and I have much to be thankful for.

Just bought a Canon 20D from Becky Tillett :iconbexe: as well as some other new gear:

:bulletblue: Canon 430EX Speedlite Flash (I used to hate using a flash, but I love this baby!)
:bulletblue: Canon 100-300mm Telephoto Lens f/4.5-f/32 Lens (Haven't used much, interested to see what she'll do)
:bulletblue: Cosina 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 MC AF Wide Angle Zoom Lens (Still in the mail, excited to try it out)
:bulletblue: Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce Flash Diffuser (Super great when I'm too close to bounce off the ceiling or walls)
:bulletblue: Westcott 301 Photo Basics 40-Inch 5-in-1 Reflector (Just got today! Excited to try out!)
:bulletblue: Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG (AMAZING! Holds everything w extra space. GREAT PACK!)
:bulletblue: Canon Monopod 100 (Very easy to use & light weight. Hangs well on my pack)
:bulletblue: SanDisk 8 GB Extreme III CF Card (Awesome! Fast & can hold 999 Large JPEGs!)
:bulletblue: Kingston USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader (Quick & easy to use. Very compact)
:bulletblue: Still using my Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II Lens that I had for my Canon Rebel.

May seem excessive...but most of it I got for my birthday (for a good price on Amazon.com) and plan to use for shooting my 1st Wedding, Engagements & Senior photos for friends.

Hopefully I can build my portfolio up to have more paying gigs! The wedding this weekend will be my 1st!

I've had opportunity for paying job...but have always been unsure of pricing, the quality & expectations of my work...but I feel now that I'm prepared to be confident & serious about my photography.

So...it's been a while so I thought I'd post a lil' life update:

Charlene III (my Digital SLR) is currently getting fixed! I decided to just get her repaired rather than buy a new digital camera...instead I'm aiming to upgrade to Photoshop CS3, perhaps even CS4? So yeah...more work coming soon!

I've been experimenting a little recently with a Holga so perhaps I'll post some results from that soon, as well...

As for life, 2009 has been far better than 2008 purely for the lack of protective orders, broken bones, stitches, car breaking down, etc. *knocks on wood*
Keeping busy with school, work, volunteering as a Young Life leader, going to concerts & dating the handsome & talented Toxic-Octopus.

Hopefully, not too busy to post new work!

:O_o: Charlene III, my wonderful Digital SLR, a Canon Digital Rebel XT, has broken 3 DAYS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED!!! I have no luck. Hopefully, she can be fixed. :pray:

In other news:
I'm single again.
I am broke.
I cut the tip of my left ring finger off, and though it's pretty well healed, I can't play guitar, cause I've tried but...
I fractured both my wrists while at the last Foo Fighters show at Red Rocks for approx. 10 years. Some drunk girl knocked me down the stairs.
I went to Las Vegas and only lost $20.00 at the roulette table.
Oh, and midterms are coming up so wish me luck while I study up!:reading:
